Start with ConnectPoint: Explore internet options. Where live ordering is available and the selected plan permits it, get connected through ConnectPoint first, then apply online for assistance through the official program. Confirm plan compatibility and your full bill before ordering. If approval must come first, apply before placing the program order. Ordinary charges apply while approval is pending; eligibility and credits are not guaranteed. Buying through ConnectPoint is not a government requirement.
Start with your service address
Explore ConnectPoint internet options first. Where live ordering is available and the plan permits it, order service and then apply for assistance. Follow approval-first requirements when the program or provider requires them. Ordering does not guarantee a discount.
Eligibility and Texas income limits
These are the 2026 federal Lifeline annual household income limits for Texas, using USAC's contiguous-state table. Texas shares this federal table with the other contiguous states; it does not have a different federal poverty threshold simply because it is Texas.
| Household size | Maximum annual household income |
|---|---|
| 1 | $21,546 |
| 2 | $29,214 |
| 3 | $36,882 |
| 4 | $44,550 |
| 5 | $52,218 |
| 6 | $59,886 |
| 7 | $67,554 |
| 8 | $75,222 |
| Each additional person | Add $7,668 |
Federal program-based eligibility includes SNAP, Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, Federal Public Housing Assistance, and Veterans Pension or Survivors Benefit. A qualifying household member or dependent can establish the program pathway. SSI and Social Security retirement are different: retirement income alone is not SSI program participation, although you may qualify by income.

Texas benefit names and the state telephone distinction
Texas residents commonly manage SNAP and Medicaid information through Your Texas Benefits. The Lone Star Card provides access to SNAP and TANF benefits; because the card can represent different programs, do not rely on the card alone to establish federal SNAP qualification. Obtain a current benefit notice identifying the program. Texas HHSC benefits resources and Your Texas Benefits.
Texas telephone assistance has additional eligibility pathways. Southwest Texas Communications describes state telephone eligibility through CHIP, TANF, LIHEAP, and the free school lunch program, along with other listed programs, and describes a 150% income threshold. These additional pathways do not automatically establish ordinary federal broadband eligibility. Its state discount applies to voice service; its federal benefit can apply to qualifying broadband. Provider's Texas distinction.
Frontier's Texas page advertises an additional $7.20 state credit for eligible customers. Treat that as provider-documented telephone assistance, and confirm the current amount and eligible service. Do not add $7.20 to every Texas internet offer. Frontier Texas terms.
Documents to prepare
| Application pathway | Useful proof to prepare |
|---|---|
| Income | Prior-year tax return, Social Security benefit statement, or income records covering three consecutive months when required. |
| SNAP or Medicaid | Current official approval or benefit-verification notice identifying the recipient, program, issuing administrator, and date. |
| SSI or qualifying pension | Official benefit verification or award notice identifying the qualifying benefit. |
| Federal housing assistance | Official housing assistance notice identifying the benefit and recipient. |
| Identity or address follow-up | Valid government ID and the address evidence requested by the administrator. |
USAC's supporting-document guidance allows online benefit-portal screenshots when the required recipient, program, issuer, and date information is visible. That does not guarantee that any Your Texas Benefits screenshot or Lone Star Card image will be accepted by the Texas administrator. Follow the actual upload request and keep the full notice readable. Do not send personal documents to an ordinary contact form or public comment field.

Apply online in Texas
- Check your address with ConnectPoint. Review the available provider and plan. Ask whether it supports federal Lifeline or a separate low-income offer, what equipment costs, and whether the ConnectPoint sales channel qualifies.
- Confirm when to order. If the provider accepts a service order first, arrange eligible internet through ConnectPoint and then complete qualification online. If approval is required first, apply before ordering. Save the service quote and application information separately.
- Use the Texas application process. For standard Texas Lifeline enrollment, USAC directs Texas residents to Texas Lifeline, rather than the ordinary National Verifier consumer application. If you need assistance or the portal is unavailable, contact the Low-Income Discount Administrator at 866-454-8387. Do not submit a duplicate application just because a webpage fails to load.
- Complete provider enrollment after the eligibility decision. Qualification alone does not activate a bill credit. Give the provider the requested approval details and verify the effective date and credit on your bill. Frontier says it establishes the discount date and appropriate credits after receiving the state's eligibility notification.

No verified statewide approval-time guarantee is available from the reviewed sources. Ask the administrator about an application awaiting review and the provider about a missing bill credit. A Safe Connections Act emergency survivor application has its own instructions; use USAC survivor guidance rather than assume the standard pathway applies.
Texas broadband and assistance providers
This maintained table contains verified examples, not a complete statewide serviceability list. A USAC Home Service listing can represent telephone service and must be checked before labeling it fixed broadband.
| Provider and official page | Assistance supported by reviewed evidence | Contact or application | Address and device limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frontier | Qualifying standalone broadband may receive $9.25 federal Lifeline; state telephone credit is separate. | Texas LIDA: 866-454-8387; provider customer service linked on its page. | Confirm exact address, eligible internet plan, equipment fees, and sales-channel compatibility. No free-device promise. |
| Southwest Texas Communications | Federal Lifeline can apply to qualifying broadband; additional state assistance is voice-only. | 830-683-2111; LIDA: 866-454-8387. | Ask for the qualifying broadband quote in its service territory. A published service-area listing is not exact availability. |
| Access from AT&T | Separate provider-run low-income internet program; price and speed depend on address. | Online address and qualification flow; existing customers call 855-220-5211 after approval. | New customers apply and obtain approval before returning to finish the order. Confirm ConnectPoint compatibility. |
Explore internet options, then confirm the exact address and eligible plan with the provider. Each program has separate requirements; not every listed company or assistance offer is available through ConnectPoint.
AT&T's current Access page offers an income or qualifying-program pathway. Its published ordering sequence is an important exception to order-first guidance. Official Access instructions.
Local help in Dallas
The City of Dallas Digital Navigators page explicitly describes enrollment support for affordable internet plans, including Lifeline, and lists neighborhood walk-in anchor sites. Confirm schedules and whether the navigator is available before traveling; a navigator helps with the process but does not make the eligibility decision.

Tribal benefit in Texas
Enhanced federal support depends on living on qualifying Tribal lands, not Tribal membership alone or a nearby town's name. Check the exact residential location through the verification tool linked on USAC's Tribal lands page. USAC says this map is informational and does not establish eligibility. Ask the administrator and participating provider to confirm the address and enhanced benefit.
Qualifying Tribal program pathways can include BIA General Assistance, Tribal TANF, income-eligible Head Start, or FDPIR. A Texas reservation-by-reservation coverage inventory has not yet been verified for this guide; no whole county or community is labeled eligible.
Keep renew or transfer the benefit
Texas handles its annual eligibility check. Respond to the instructions and deadline in the state's or provider's renewal notice; do not assume a USAC renewal login or generic national mailing address is the correct Texas destination. USAC recertification guidance.
If you move, contact the administrator and provider, update your address, and check whether the new home has qualifying service. If you lose Medicaid or SNAP, check whether another qualifying program or your income still supports eligibility. Frontier directs customers to notify it and LIDA when they are no longer eligible. Frontier Texas requirements.
To change providers, ask the receiving provider how to transfer the household benefit and preserve any number you want to keep. Confirm the effective date before ending existing service. Maintain one federal Lifeline benefit per household; a household is the relevant income-and-expense unit, not simply every person at one address. USAC household guidance.
