California CASF Infrastructure Deadline Extended to November 2, 2026
The CPUC moved the 2026 CASF Broadband Infrastructure Grant Account application deadline from October 1 to November 2 and revised the downstream 2026–2027 timeline. These are grant-cycle dates, not household service dates.
What the CPUC changed on September 21
The California Public Utilities Commission extended the 2026 California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Infrastructure Grant Account application deadline from October 1, 2026 to November 2, 2026. CPUC says stakeholders requested more time to analyze updated eligibility data and account for the federal BEAD program.
This extension applies to the CASF Infrastructure Account. Do not silently apply the November 2 date to CASF Adoption, Public Housing, Consortia, Line Extension or Tribal Technical Assistance programs, which have their own rules and timelines.
The revised 2026 timeline has several separate milestones
CPUC's revised table lists September 23, 2026 for publication of the Broadband Availability Map, November 2 for Infrastructure Account applications, November 16 for staff to post application summaries and maps, and December 7 for challenge submissions.
Each date answers a different program question. A map-publication date is not an application approval date, and an application deadline is not a construction-start or service-live date.
The 2026 cycle reaches into September 2027
The CPUC letter lists September 30, 2027 as the deadline for 2026 application approvals under ministerial review and as the deadline for publishing draft resolutions recommending project approval from the 2026 cycle.
Those 2027 dates are grant-administration milestones. A specific proposed project can still require additional engineering, permitting, contracting, construction, testing and provider activation before a home or business can order service.
The 2027 CASF Infrastructure application date is also identified
The same revised timeline lists November 1, 2027 as the 2027 CASF Infrastructure Account application deadline. CPUC says later dates in that 2027 cycle will be addressed in a future letter.
Connect Point ISP should retain November 1 as a forward planning date, not fill in missing 2027 challenge, approval or construction dates. Update this canonical when CPUC publishes the next official schedule.
Why BEAD affects the timing without making CASF and BEAD the same program
CPUC says the deadline extension gives applicants time to analyze eligibility data and develop CASF proposals that do not overlap with BEAD-funded areas. California's BEAD program and CASF Infrastructure Account are related broadband-funding efforts, but they have separate authorities, application processes and project records.
A project appearing in one program should not be described as funded by the other unless the controlling public record says so. Keep award status, technology, geography and implementation source-specific.
What prospective applicants should do
Use the current CPUC Infrastructure Account instructions, eligibility data and official application materials rather than relying on an older October 1 deadline found in a cached page or prior calendar. Preserve submission records and monitor the CASF Distribution List for the map and application-summary milestones CPUC describes.
This guide does not determine whether a proposed project is eligible or competitive. The governing CPUC decisions, program rules, application materials and staff process control those questions.
What this does not prove for residents
A CASF application window does not establish that a provider has applied for a particular neighborhood, that an application will be approved, that construction has begun, or that internet is orderable at a particular address.
Residents should continue to verify exact-address serviceability through current provider or other address-level evidence. If CPUC later publishes a named award or completed network, Connect Point ISP can add that verified local milestone to the appropriate canonical without converting program dates into unsupported coverage claims.
